EdgeCare (CEO Yangmo Yoo) announced on the 26th that it has been finally selected for the Ministry of SMEs and Startups' ‘Scale-up TIPS R&D Project’. The selected research and development project is the ‘Development of a Wearable Ultrasound-based Personalized Urinary Disorder Management Solution’, a program that supports scale-up by linking private investment and government R&D to promising SMEs with technological capabilities. EdgeCare will lead the project, with Yonsei University's Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation (led by Professor Wonseok Jang) participating as a joint research institution.

The project will be carried out over a total of 36 months from November 2025 to October 2028, with a total R&D budget of approximately KRW 1.5 billion. Of this, the government contribution is in the KRW 1.1 billion range. BSK Investment evaluated that EdgeCare's deep learning-based ultrasound technology has high potential to address unmet needs in the medical field and reduce monitoring gaps between home and hospital.

Through this project, EdgeCare will develop the next-generation wearable bladder monitoring solution ‘EdgeFlow UW40’. The UW40 is an advanced model based on the existing hospital product UW20, featuring ultra-small and ultra-thin ultrasound sensor structures that allow continuous monitoring of bladder conditions in a home environment. It includes deep learning-based individual and posture-specific bladder volume measurement, urination pattern analysis, and personalized rehabilitation training support functions, and is expected to evolve into an integrated solution supporting rehabilitation based on bladder volume information.

It is particularly expected to present a new management paradigm encompassing monitoring and rehabilitation for patient groups such as those with chronic urinary retention and postoperative urinary retention, where existing management solutions have been insufficient. CEO Yangmo Yoo stated, “Real-time, non-invasive, continuous patient monitoring technology based on AI and ultrasound patches is a key technology that will significantly change the medical field. The R&D capabilities and private investment secured through this Scale-up TIPS selection will further accelerate EdgeCare's growth.”

Through the execution of this project, EdgeCare plans to contribute to improving the quality of life for patients with chronic urinary disorders, preventing complications, and reducing medical and social costs, while further accelerating growth through product commercialization and global market expansion.
